Museums Take Their Lessons to Schools

Here's an interesting article in the New York Times about the decline of school visits to museums and how many museums are stepping it up and taking programs to schools.

  1. Very interesting piece. It's good to know what other museums are attempting and there seem to be some ideas in there about types of things to try. It was eye-opening to know how much work is involved in getting a class to the museum. Makes you wonder if a "museum-mobile" or RV or re-configured school bus could be turned into a rolling museum on wheels--like a library RV. Allowing the process to "think big" is always a good exercise because inevitably the mind arrives at some idea that is actually possible within a given set of resources. I'm extremely proud to see the Haggin Museum pursue its Museum 2 Schools programs. You deserve credit so much beyond what you receive.
